I know tags represent categories of your question. However, how specific is too specific when it comes to tags?

What I mean is let's say I was asking about an item and I'd list one of the tags as items. But what if I wanted to write the items names as a tag? Like for example, omniscient-owl. Or to maybe show an example of some tags in questions-

https://www.tibiaqa.com/17559/is-it-possible-to-fail-while-forging-falcon-escutcheon

One tag is Falcon-Escutcheon and the other says Falcon-Shield

https://www.tibiaqa.com/7820/how-to-upgrade-falcon-shield-into-a-falcon-escutcheon

Is this necessary or should I retag it under items and not be too specific? I see this in some questions with creatures and bosses where the names of them are listed. Which, in some cases I guess can be fine. I guess it depends on a case by case basis.

I just want to know how proper we have to be with tags just to clear it up in case something needs to be retagged. Also, what to do if we're not sure if this a proper tag or not. Do we flag?

I don't really have a definitive answer to this. We also don't have any official guidelines at this point that we could refer to, so it's kind of a gray area we could improve. Currently, we just rely on a common sense. Duplicative tags are removed. Misspelled tags are either removed or fixed. Same with tags that could be confusing. The biggest question is around very specific tags like the ones you mentioned (e.g. for specific items). It could easily use the equipment tag: https://www.tibiaqa.com/tag/equipment and be more broad, but at the same time I don't think that forbidding more specific tag is what we want to do. Thoughts?

I guess just clarifying in the guidelines what should be expected of us when tagging. What would be a good or bad tag. When we should create our own tag or not? I guess I just want to make sure if I for example retag those questions in my original question that it would be acceptable or not. I just don't want to edit something that doesn't need editing is all :)

Sounds like a good idea for a future contest! :)
In my opinion, having item-specific tags can be beneficial, but it could be nice to always use it together with the broader category tag. In your example, if you use Falcon-Escutcheon, I would say that the tag Items should be used too.
