TibiaQA has a solid foundation for leveraging the knowledge of players willing to contribute to the creation of a forum-like information center. However, I believe it suffers somewhat from a lack of activity on the site.  Despite hosting several events throughout the year and offering a points system as a reward, after a certain amount of time, users stop visiting it, and it does not have enough promotion (especially considering the player base) to rely solely on new recurring users. That said, I would like to suggest a few ideas on how to incentivize players to take advantage of the site and visit it more often:

1 - Content of the month, highlighting the most popular questions/answers of that month, possibly offering a small reward to those who meet the criteria.

2 - YouTube highlights. I know this idea was probably ruled out due to the effort involved, but watching tibivideo (a Tibia content creator who explains Tibia to Spanish speakers), I think most of the content can be translated into an English version SHORT/Reel. Not all content, and preferably simple questions.

3 - Partners and contests:  There are precedents of other fansites managing to improve their activity hosting events and things where people participated by answering questions, perhaps a similar event where a weekly question is posted and organized on another “more popular site” or directly on a social network (such as a post on Instagram/Facebook/X) for people to earn points and claim rewards.

The main idea is to take advantage of the visibility that Tibia has on social media and elsewhere to attract as many visitors as possible, followed by an improvement or change in the reward system or the way content is displayed for greater retention, mainly because although the fansite is designed to maintain as much neutrality as possible, it is normal and healthy for users to want to debate ideas or posts, either to understand them or to refute them, and this is not possible within the website but could be on other networks.

Thanks for posting the ideas! Quick question about the content of the month part (to you and everyone else in general). You mention "highlighting >the most popular< questions/answers of that month". What criteria do you think should be used for determining what's popular?

I haven't found a proper answer yet, I'm thinking on a ratio of view per user to reaction  (comment, like, follow) but i haven't  been able to think about it properly, once i could formulate properly i would edit this.

I love the idea - content of the month. Highlighting a question. Maybe from a bump or special pin. Like a did you know? I think TibiaQA could benefit from that in terms of increasing activity.

I know this was mentioned before to have videos on the website on social media? Or both? I think it would make for a great contest.

I know TibiaQA loves supporting and partnering with other fansites. A weekly contest would be maybe too much in my eyes but I think monthly points would be fair.

Do you have any ideas on ways maybe more points could be rewarded from doing certain activities rather than just contests? Like any other moderation activity or participating in the fansite?

Im all for improving TibiaQA as its a fansite like no other and has great information. Ive learned so much from others and continue to learn. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! Hopefully 2026 can bring some change to get more activity.

the issue with points in my pov is that other than obtaining a omniscient owl and competitivity (being top 1) probably there aren't big goals for many players, at least it's not of my interest even though this is the fansite i have dedicated the most time beside tibiawiki (for obvious reasons).

If we could spend our points somehow without that representing a huge withdraw for the fansite im all in, but as it's right now, it kinda lead ppl to find the most efficent (cheap and less elaborated) way to trick the system than encouraging interaction.

So, at least for me, I wish there were other things or other uses to what exists right now. .

As THAT top 1 (shawtay is a staff member) Im agree with your comment

I do like how some websites have where you can use points for other things besides the fansite item. Maybe someone can create a realistic list to propose?

I think was on TibiaGoals where a staff member get a second item when she reached 4 years of colaboration. Thats really huge change over how its works and open the rules to get a second one using the point system.

TibiaQA team members do get an owl after a certain amount of time! :) so one you can get with contribution system the other with being apart of the team

Yeah I know, but the ''old'' rule for staff members was only 1 and now looks like at least its 2 or every 2 years. And the actual rule for QA its 1, but this open the options too.

I think the limiting factor of increasing activity is that there are only so many high quality questions that can be asked. Typically with the contests we see a large influx of questions and answers. Some are great well thought out questions and responses. However, many of them are low quality only intending to check a participation box for entry into the contest. Additionally, many questions are asked and answered by the same person, written before the question was even posted, something that may as well be an article that just has a "?" added on the title to fit with site guidelines. So many questions are also fall along the "what is the best for x" specific scenario questions which really straddle the opinion based rules.

While obtaining the owl should not be the goal of users, it most likely is for many people. The unfortunate reality is many people are probably drawn to contests because of the chance of an "easy payout" for an item with high value. This rewards short term users and throwaway accounts intended to maximize chances of winning. The points system feels really unappealing to new users. I have been a member for 7 years, moderately active compared to much of the community, and have only accrued 1000 points. Obtaining 5000 would be almost an impossible task without spamming site with low quality content or abusing alternate accounts for votes/best response selections.

I think future contests could be about updating old and outdated answers with newly released content. A question of the month could identify old content, highlight new great questions/answers, and award bonus entries to participants to the summer/winter contests. These bonus entries could be awarded by admin to entice new posts and could be capped to 2 or 3 entries to prevent a sense of favouritism. I personally feel the questions intentionally answered by the asker dont fit the site well and should be moved to a new section called "articles". These could be approved and awarded additional points to the author to reward their efforts.

Not a fan of the youtube/social/partner ideas but maybe others feel differently.

Its not impossible to get 5000 points. There's so many questions nowadays. Does take a lot to swift to but it would take some dedication. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

The best time for its, on every update time.

about the "entry" part, yes, there's a lot of low quality content, but that's the point of making the event, reward shouldn't be huge just enough to make ppl check.

About the way to earn poins, this is most likely b ecause there's low quantity of users so ofc you get less chances to ppl upvote good anwers.

And yes, there's actually an event called "question revival" which is hosted every now and then, but we need something to bring ppl to check it more often

About the questions intentionally answered by the asker are okay, as long as both the question and the answer are high quality, you don't need to upvote them and you can post a better answer if you think there's one or correct em if you think they did wrong, im not a fan of answering myself but sometimes it's needed as other ppl don't find the answer or don't care for the question.
