The advances of technology have profoundly influenced society. Consequently, the world today increasingly depends on technology to solve problems. These developments in the processing of information technology create professions that require mathematical skills, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making competency. To meet these needs, MGIS provides a comprehensive curriculum that teaches the fundamentals of mathematics, develops critical thinking and nurtures logical reasoning. Our mathematics program lays the groundwork of mathematical literacy at an early age. The students are introduced to strands in algebra, data and probability, geometry, measurement, numeration, patterns, and functions. The instruction is structured to provide multiple exposures to topics and frequent opportunities to review and practice skills. Our Math curriculum equips teachers to a fully comprehensive PK–6 curriculum that implements the Common Core State Standards in a manner that is rigorous, coherent, engaging, and accessible to all learners. The overall goal of the mathematics program is to establish a solid foundation on which to develop skills for students at each grade level. The program strives to have students become mathematical problem solvers who can develop mathematical reasoning skills. The curriculum includes a broad range of content, focusing on the knowledge of concepts, which could be applied to real-world situations. The course is designed to produce mathematically literate people who:
